Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, sets up what may be Ethan Hunt's last mission in the new trailer

The next mission for Tom Cruise, should he choose to accept it, is to launch his latest (and maybe final?) entry in his major action series — Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning — at the Cannes Film Festival. Chris Bumbray reported on Cruise’s recent big appearance at the CinemaCon panel where he revealed the new trailer, but first paid tribute to Val Kilmer, “Tom Cruise showed up in person and the exhibitors went nuts. He led off by paying tribute to Val Kilmer who he called a dear friend. Said he was grateful and honored he came back for Top Gun: Maverick. Has us take a moment of silence for him. Ended it with ‘Thank you, Val. I wish you well on your next journey.‘”

Deadline now reports that Cruise is set to launch the latest installment to his iconic action series at the Canne Film Festival this year. Final Reckoning will be screening Out of Competition on May 14 with Cruise in tow along with director Christopher McQuarrie and cast making their appearance on the big red carpet. Cruise will be in London in the days prior to the event to receive a BAFTA Fellowship.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning tells the second half of the story that began in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, with Ethan Hunt out to destroy an AI system called The Entity, which is housed in a sunken Russian stealth submarine. Mission: Impossible – Rogue NationMission: Impossible – Fallout, and Dead Reckoning writer/director Christopher McQuarrie remains at the helm, working from a screenplay he crafted with Erik Jendresen. The official synopsis is very simple: Our lives are the sum of our choices. Tom Cruise is Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

Cruise is being joined in the cast by Hayley Atwell, reprising her Dead Reckoning role of thief-turned-IMF-recruit Grace; Vanessa Kirby as arms dealer Alanna Mitsopolis, a.k.a. the White Widow, a character who was previously seen in both Fallout and Dead Reckoning; Ving Rhames as IMF agent Luther Stickell, who has been part of this franchise since the first Mission: Impossible movie in 1996; Simon Pegg as IMF agent Benji Dunn, who joined the party back in Mission: Impossible III; Henry Czerny as CIA director Eugene Kittridge, who was introduced in Mission: Impossible (1996) and finally made his long-awaited return in Dead Reckoning; Rolf Saxon as William Donloe, a CIA analyst who got in trouble after Ethan Hunt accessed his computer way back in the first Mission: Impossible; and more Dead Reckoning reprisals: Esai Morales as the Entity-serving terrorist Gabriel; Pom Klementieff as Gabriel’s former ally Paris; Shea Whigham and Greg Tarzan Davis as US Intelligence agents Briggs and Degas; Mariela Garriga as Marie, a mysterious woman from Ethan and Gabriel’s past; Mark Gatiss and Charles Parnell as the heads of the NSA and NRO;. There are also a handful of new additions to the franchise: Holt McCallany as Secretary of Defense Bernstein; Nick Offerman as Sydney, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and Katy O’Brian, Stephen Oyoung, Tramell Tillman, Janet McTeer, Hannah Waddingham, and Lucy Tulugarjuk in unspecified roles.

On Friday, April 18, the Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) will launch a major initiative celebrating the phenomenon of Paramount Pictures’ thrilling MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE franchise, ahead of the Memorial Day Weekend 2025 release of the eighth film in the series, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE—The Final Reckoning. The exhibition will spotlight star and producer Tom Cruise’s exceptional commitment to practical stunt work, and explore how the series combines technical ingenuity, personal discipline, and artistic commitment, all in service of storytelling, character development, and performance.

The MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE experience at MoMI will be anchored by MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE—Story and Spectacle, an exhibition that immerses visitors in the breathtaking stunts and key dramatic moments of the series, pulling back the curtain to allow insight into story and character development and the planning and execution of action sequences. The exhibition and related programs will provide a focal point for fans of the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE franchise, both those in New York and worldwide through virtual and/or livestreamed events.

Sections of the exhibition will be devoted to each film in the series, with a focus on that film’s key stunt or action sequence, along with unique behind-the-scenes content that offers insight on how the remarkable stunts were prepared for and filmed, complemented by related production artifacts.

“For almost 30 years, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE films have thrilled audiences with suspenseful stories and unparalleled practical stunts,” said Barbara Miller, Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs. “MoMI is excited to partner with Paramount Pictures on this major exhibition to explore the series’ unique achievements and create a fun, illuminating experience for fans and visitors.”

Access to MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE—Story and Spectacle will be included with general Museum admission tickets during its run.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE—Story and Spectacle and related programs are supported by a Market New York grant from Empire State Development and I LOVE NY, New York State’s Division of Tourism.

Whatever the future of the Mission: Impossible franchise brings (if anything), we absolutely cannot wait to see where Cruise, McQuarrie and everybody else they talked into this heart-thumping, death-defying saga take movie #8. The Final Reckoning opens on May 23, 19 years and one day after the first debuted in 1996.

atwell cruise

It’s a great irony that any movie with Tom Cruise would have the word “impossible” in it, and yet here we are on the verge of the eighth. And just like the rest of us, co-star Hayley Atwell learned fast that Cruise wouldn’t just be doing insane stunts himself but encouraging castmates to do the same.

Hayley Atwell – who came onboard the Mission: Impossible franchise as Grace in 2023’s Dead Reckoning Part Onerecently recalled being plunged into an environment that let her explore a style that took her places she had never seen before. As Atwell says, working with Tom Cruise forces you to do the homework and follow through. “There’ll be Tom going: ‘From five years old I’ve always wanted to jump from a cliff on a motorbike’, and realising his dream. But with the rest, they’re kind of making it up as they go. When I auditioned, they were clear they were looking for someone who likes to work in this way, and that it’s not for everyone. I also had to be prepared for five months of full-time physical training and to be dynamic enough to learn fight sequences, to drift in a car with Tom, to be able to shoot a gun and work with knives.” No wonder this movie is practically giving people heart attacks!

As for what Atwell was going through in her mind prior to working with Cruise in such a high-stakes environment, she added, “When I started, I was very aware of the rarefied air around him and how there is no one like him. And there never will be because actors aren’t made like him any more. He is a one-man studio and, to me, very kind, very professional.” It was this mode that helped push Atwell to give it everything she had, something Cruise is no stranger to inspiring in his co-stars. “And because of that, I felt I was able to try lots of different things. There was never a risk of failure or being unsafe. Tom really likes people to thrive on set.”

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is without a doubt one of the most anticipated movies of 2025, likely concluding a series that I personally think is the best action franchise ever. It’s still kind of up in the air if there will actually be more M:I sequels but at some point it is just going to feel right to end it. Putting “Final” in the title would seem to nudge it in that direction, but with nothing set in stone and Tom Cruise always up to exploring the limits, “final” might be believable as “impossible.”

Even without seeing a frame, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning would have ranked high on our list of most anticipated movies of 2025. (It received nearly a quarter of the votes in a reader poll, beating out Superman and the next Jurassic World.) And now that Paramount has released a new Big Game spot (to go along with the teaser released in November), that has only skyrocketed – although not nearly as high as Tom Cruise has been.

We’ve already gotten looks at some of The Final Reckoning’s stunts in both air and water, but this trailer is promising so much more – which shouldn’t really surprise us as the franchise has continuously dazzled us with its action set pieces, each subsequent installment blowing our minds more than the last. And with everything we’ve seen so far, no doubt The Final Reckoning will be one hell of a way to conclude the series.

As for if The Final Reckoning will truly be Cruise’s last outing as Ethan Hunt is anybody’s guess, although most signs point to this being the case. Cruise may be playing coy, but the general belief is that Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie will hang it up after having worked on half of the movies together. Some speculation arose that the series could continue with a young Ethan Hunt, who would be introduced in a flashback in The Final Reckoning. The latter part of that sounds like a solid enough addition, but I’m not sure I see the need to give prequels a spotlight here at this point. Are we really that desperate for Mission: Impossible – The First Reckoning?

Whatever the future of the Mission: Impossible franchise brings (if anything), we absolutely cannot wait to see where Cruise, McQuarrie and everybody else they talked into this heart-thumping, death-defying saga take movie #8. The Final Reckoning opens on May 23rd, 19 years and one day after the first debuted in 1996.

Tom Cruise, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, last movie

Ethan Hunt has been saving the world for nearly thirty years, but will Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning be his last mission? There have been rumblings that Tom Cruise may call it quits with The Final Reckoning, but if that’s the case, neither he nor director Christopher McQuarrie are prepared to confirm it… yet.

You gotta see the movie,” Cruise told Empire when they tried to get an answer out of him. “It’s a hard thing for me to discuss at the moment, because it really is something that you have to experience.” The actor added that The Final Reckoning will be “an epic, emotional journey of the entire franchise.

McQuarrie also wasn’t willing to confirm anything but did say that the film will be “the satisfying conclusion to a 30-year story arc. I’m pretty confident that people are going to feel that the title was appropriate.

While I’m confident the Mission: Impossible franchise will continue in some form, it’s entirely possible that this could be Cruise’s last outing. However, the actor has previously said that he’d like to keep making them until he’s 80.

We still don’t know a whole lot about The Final Reckoning, only that it will follow the story set up in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, in which Ethan and his team were tasked with stopping the Entity, a rogue AI capable of controlling global defence intelligence and financial networks. The film was originally titled Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, but after the first movie was perceived to be a box-office disappointment, Paramount rethought its approach. When production on the new movie was forced to shut down due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the studio pushed the release date and announced that it would receive a new title.

In addition to Tom Cruise as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, The Final Reckoning features several returning cast members, including Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Vanessa Kirby, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Angela Bassett, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, and Frederick Schmidt. New additions include Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Katy O’Brian, and Tramell Tillman. There have also been rumours that The Final Reckoning will include a sequence with a young Ethan Hunt. The previous film did include a few nods to Hunt’s backstory, so it’s possible this might be explored further in the new movie. The Final Reckoning will hit theaters on May 23rd.

Place your bets. Do you think Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will be Ethan Hunt’s last mission?

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, stunts, Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise has risked life and limb to entertain us for decades. He has scrambled up the side of the Burj Khalifa, driven a motorcycle off a cliff, and flown fighter jets. However, the upcoming Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning sounds like it will feature stunts that even put Cruise to the test.

One of the stunts in The Final Reckoning finds Cruise clinging to the wing of a biplane as it zips through the air at 10,000 feet, and the actor told Empire that it actually caused him to pass out on several occasions. “When you stick your face out, going over 120 to 130 miles an hour, you’re not getting oxygen,” Cruise said. “So I had to train myself how to breathe. There were times I would pass out physically; I was unable to get back into the cockpit.” That sounds terrifying.

Director Christopher McQuarrie added, “There are stunts in this movie that will melt your brain.” I don’t doubt it. Filming these sequences with your leading man in very real danger must be extremely stressful, and McQuarrie teased an even more intense stunt sequence, which “truly [made him] want to puke thinking about the stress. It was intense.

We still don’t know a whole lot about The Final Reckoning, only that it will follow the story set up in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, in which Ethan and his team were tasked with stopping the Entity, a rogue AI capable of controlling global defence intelligence and financial networks. Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, Tom Cruise, heart attack

We can always count on Tom Cruise and the Mission: Impossible franchise to present us with some death-defying action sequences, but from the sounds of things, The Final Reckoning is going take that to the next level. While speaking with Empire (via GamesRadar), director Christopher McQuarrie revealed that a screening of “the most difficult thing” they’ve done in the franchise got quite the reaction, nearly prompting a myocardial infarction in one member of the audience.

We had a small screening and someone said, ‘I was suffocating throughout the entire sequence. I almost had a heart attack.’ And I thought, ‘I guess we did something right,” McQuarrie said.

The teaser trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning includes several impressive stunts, including Tom Cruise hanging off the side of a biplane and some nail-biting underwater scenes. Will any of these be heart-attack-worthy? Do I need to have a check-up with my doctor before the movie?

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning had the highest budget of any film in the Mission: Impossible franchise, somewhere in the range of $290 million… but the box office numbers took a dip, the film ending up with a haul of $566 million at the worldwide box office. A lower amount than Ghost Protocol ($694 million), Rogue Nation ($688 million), and Fallout ($786 million) had earned. And they all had substantially lower budgets. With the next film, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, set to reach theatres on May 23, 2025, the folks working behind-the-scenes might have an idea that the franchise needs to be shaken up a bit. According to a RUMOR shared by The Sun, they’re going to attempt to do this by pulling a younger version of Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt character into the action.

The Sun’s inside source informed them, “Tom is keen to give Mission: Impossible a fresh take in the next two films and wants to explore a bit of Ethan’s past. They’re going to start looking for a young star to take on the role and they will appear a bit in (Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning) and then more in the ninth film. It’s very important to Tom that they get the right person. They are seeking a youngster who is completely fresh on the scene and will cause a real stir. It’s a huge role but the hunt is on to see if they can find a young Tom Cruise. The scenes will show Ethan in his early life and explore the things that happened to him before he went on to start working as a spy. It is something they’ve not done before with Mission: Impossible and so Tom thinks it could be a really interesting tangent for fans.” It’s not surprising to hear that The Final Reckoning will include flashbacks to Ethan’s younger days, as Dead Reckoning was already dropping hints about his back story, but it is surprising to hear that a young Ethan might play a bigger role in the next sequel down the line.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning tells the second half of the story that began in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, with Ethan Hunt out to destroy an AI system called The Entity, which is housed in a sunken Russian stealth submarine.

While a custom-made popcorn bucket designed to emulate a certain movie isn’t a new development, the trend has certainly spiked this year after the viral sensation of the Dune: Part 2 sandworm bucket that garnered many jokes online. One movie that definitely capitalized off Dune‘s suggestive imagery was Deadpool & Wolverine, as they made a bucket where the entry was the oversized mouth of Wolverine. This year also saw custom popcorn buckets for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Alien: Romulus, Gladiator II, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and even a special Batman one to commemorate the character’s 85th anniversary. Time has revealed that not only will there be a special edition popcorn bucket for next year’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, but Tom Cruise himself had helped to design it. According to Rob Bennett, the director of food and beverage product strategy at AMC, Cruise would be instrumental in guiding the design of the bucket and while it hasn’t yet been revealed, he would gleefully tease, “We nailed it.”

Cruise is known for being both passionate about the theater-going experience and going the extra mile in participating in the making of his movies. The recently released trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (which you can watch in the embed above) showed that there’s going to be a lot of water-based action in this new sequel, and now a behind-the-scenes video has arrived online to show us a moment of star Tom Cruise preparing to perform some of those underwater stunts. Cruise himself also shared an image of him working on the movie underwater with the caption, “The training and preparation we put into this film is a culmination of all before it. Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

Almost six years have gone by since Tom Cruise announced that Paramount Pictures had given the greenlight to two more Mission: Impossible movies, with Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) and Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018) writer/director Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm. At one point, we thought these movies were going to carry the titles Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two… but Paramount has backtracked from that decision. After Dead Reckoning Part One underwhelmed at the box office when it was released last year, the studio has dropped Part One from the subtitle and has let it be known that the next film, which is still in production, will have a different title. A decision they really should have made before releasing the first half of the story. At least we’re still getting the second half of the story, with the next Mission: Impossible film set to reach theatres on May 23, 2025. And here’s Everything We Know About Mission: Impossible 8, which is officially titled Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

DIRECTOR

As mentioned, both of these new Mission: Impossible movies are being directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who also directed the two films before this duo. McQuarrie is the first director to be at the helm of more than one film in this franchise; previously, Mission: Impossible had been seen as a sort of “director’s showcase” series, where a different director would bring their own style to each individual film. Brian De Palma directed Mission: Impossible (1996), John Woo directed Mission: Impossible II (2000), J.J. Abrams directed Mission: Impossible III (2006), and Brad Bird directed Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011). Then we entered the McQuarrie era, which will make up half of the franchise once The Final Reckoning is released.

STORY

In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023), McQuarrie and co-writer Erik Jendresen told us of a Russian stealth submarine that was equipped with an AI defense and navigation system called The Entity. The AI system gained sentience and sabotaged the submarine, sinking it to the bottom of the sea somewhere. Now The Entity is loose in the digital world, and our Impossible Missions Force heroes have to stop this mysterious, all powerful enemy. Dead Reckoning ended with IMF agent Ethan Hunt (the role Cruise has been playing throughout this film franchise) getting his hands on the key that will allow him to access the chamber where the world threatening Entity resides on that sunken submarine and destroy it… So in the second film, he and his IMF team embark on a mission to locate the submarine and overcome whatever obstacles McQuarrie and Jendresen throw his way so he can clean up this Entity mess.

Apparently this resolution of the Entity storyline is quite exciting, as McQuarrie told Empire that it nearly caused a medical emergency at a screening. “We had a small screening and someone said, ‘I was suffocating throughout the entire sequence. I almost had a heart attack.’ And I thought, ‘I guess we did something right.

Mission: Impossible 8

CAST

Well, of course, the new film stars Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt. For this mission, we’re expecting to see him share the screen with Hayley Atwell, reprising her Dead Reckoning Part One role of thief-turned-IMF-recruit Grace; Vanessa Kirby as arms dealer Alanna Mitsopolis, a.k.a. the White Widow, a character who was previously seen in both Fallout and Dead Reckoning; Ving Rhames as IMF agent Luther Stickell, who has been part of this franchise since Mission: Impossible in 1996; Simon Pegg as IMF agent Benji Dunn, who joined the party back in Mission: Impossible III; Henry Czerny as CIA director Eugene Kittridge, who was introduced in Mission: Impossible (1996) and finally made his long-awaited return in Dead Reckoning; Rolf Saxon as William Donloe, a CIA analyst who got in trouble after Ethan Hunt accessed his computer way back in the first Mission: Impossible; Angela Bassett as Erika Sloane, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency; and more Dead Reckoning reprisals: Esai Morales as the Entity-serving terrorist Gabriel; Pom Klementieff as Gabriel’s former ally Paris; Shea Whigham and Greg Tarzan Davis as US Intelligence agents Briggs and Degas; Mariela Garriga as Marie, a mysterious woman from Ethan and Gabriel’s past; Mark Gatiss and Charles Parnell as the heads of the NSA and NRO. Waddingham has said that her character is “a ‘powerful woman’ who is ‘quite functional’ in the face of dangerous missions, massive explosions, and death-defying stuntwork.”

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Whigham revealed what he requested from McQuarrie when he was cast in these films: “I said to Christopher McQuarrie: ‘I don’t want a bigger trailer. I don’t want more money. I don’t want better catering. I just want one scene between Tom and I, where you, McQ, write it like The Usual Suspects, and we get a chance to get in there.’ And he delivered.

In March of 2024, Cruise was spotted on set… and yes, he was running.

According to a RUMOR shared by The Sun, the filmmakers are looking to cast a younger version of Ethan Hunt, who would appear not just in The Final Reckoning, but also in the next sequel. It is something they’ve not done before with Mission: Impossible and so Tom thinks it could be a really interesting tangent for fans.”

FILMING LOCATIONS

Mission: Impossible movies tend to be globe-trotting adventures, and this one is no exception. Filming locations have included Longcross Studios and the Lake District in the UK, Malta, South Africa, and the Arctic region of Norway. We know that Atwell and Tulugarjuk were present for the filming in the Arctic. We also know that Waddingham’s scenes with Cruise were filmed on the USS George H.W. Bush fighter carrier when it was off the coast of the Apulia region of Italy.

TRAILER

The first trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning arrived online in November of 2024, and that’s how we found out what the new title would be. Here it is:

A behind-the-scenes video and image made their way online to preview some of the underwater stunts Cruise performed for this film:

MASSIVE UNDERTAKING

Making two Mission: Impossible movies essentially back-to-back was never going to be a walk in the park, but Dead Reckoning and its follow-up have both hit some rough patches during production. The production team began this adventure at the start of 2020… bad luck, because that was right before the pandemic lockdowns hit and slowed the project down for quite a while. Mission: Impossible 8 / Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning started filming in early 2022, then had to be paused for McQuarrie, Cruise, and their cohorts could do press for Dead Reckoning. That was followed by the Screen Actors Guild strike, which brought filming to a halt for several months. Obviously, Paramount has given both of these films mind-bogglingly long production schedules and have dropped a lot of money into their budgets. Dead Reckoning alone is said to have cost nearly $300 million, but at least they got £57 million from Swiss insurer Chubb to make up for the delay caused by the pandemic.

NOT A SEND-OFF

Early on, it was said that the two-part Dead Reckoning would be a “culmination” of the entire series that would serve as a “send-off” to the Ethan Hunt character. That’s not the case. When he saw 80-year-old Harrison Ford reprising the role of Indiana Jones in Dial of Destiny, 61-year-old Cruise said he hopes to be making Mission: Impossible movies until he reaches Ford’s Dial of Destiny age. McQuarrie has said these films won’t be the end for the franchise, and he and Cruise even already have ideas for what comes next. So if the next film is a success, we can expect to see Ethan Hunt return for more adventures.

And that’s everything we know about Mission: Impossible 8 / Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning at this point. Someday, McQuarrie and Cruise are finally going to finish making this movie, and in May of 2025 we’ll have our chance to see how it has turned out. Will we choose to accept it? Here’s some extra enticement: movie-goers at AMC theatres will have the chance to eat their popcorn out of a bucket that Tom Cruise has helped design!

In the meantime, you can check out a review of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One from our own Chris Bumbray right here, and be sure to let us know what you thought of the film as well.

As we honor the men and women of the Armed Forces on Veteran’s Day in the United States, Tom Cruise, Paramount Pictures, and Skydance Entertainment are keeping audiences entertained with a thrilling teaser trailer and poster for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The action-packed trailer features Ethan Hunt (Cruise) in his most dangerous mission yet, with the fate of humanity hanging in the balance as he defies gravity, embraces the unknown, and saves the world.

Paramount’s teaser trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning returns us to some of Ethan Hunt’s most nail-biting assignments, reminding us that he’ll stop at nothing to outsmart evil and ensure we wake up in the morning with the world intact. The teaser features plenty of underwater antics as Ethan explores a submarine under frozen waters, where everything that can go wrong does. In true Mission: Impossible fashion, the teaser explodes with a montage of action set pieces, each more elaborate than the next. With time running out, Ethan performs the impossible to bring down those who would see our world in ruin.

Christopher McQuarrie directs Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning from a script he co-wrote with Erik Jendresen. Tom Cruise reprises his role as Ethan Hunt, with Angela Bassett back as CIA Director Erika Sloane. The stacked cast also includes Esai Moreles, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Henry Czerny, Greg Tarzan Davis, Mariela Garriga, and Indira Varma. Newcomers to the franchise include Hannah Waddingham, Janet McTeer, Holt McCallany, Katy O’Brian, Nick Offerman, and Tramell Tillman.

In addition to debuting a teaser trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Paramount shared a poster for the film featuring a close-up of Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. The follow-up to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning arrives in theaters on May 23, 2025, after a significant delay due to the pandemic and SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike.

What do you think about our first honest-to-goodness glimpse at Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning? Is this Cruise’s last time playing Ethan Hunt, or is this a misdirect? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Mission: Impossible 8 has a new addition to the cast, as Deadline reports that Stephen Oyoung (Twisters) has signed on. Of course, there’s no word on who Oyoung will be playing in the movie, but he joins quite the jam-packed ensemble.

In addition to Tom Cruise as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, Mission: Impossible 8 features several returning cast members, including Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Vanessa Kirby, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Angela Bassett, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, and Frederick Schmidt. New additions include Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Katy O’Brian, and Tramell Tillman.

Oyoung will next be seen in Twisters, but he’s probably best known for playing Martin Li / Mister Negative in Insomniac’s Spider-Man games. He has also appeared in movies such as Sicario, Terminator: Dark Fate, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, and more. Oyoung has also served as a fight coordinator on a number of projects, including 47 Ronin, The Equalizer, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

We still don’t know a whole lot about Mission: Impossible 8, but it will follow the story set up in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, in which Ethan and his team were tasked with stopping the Entity, a rogue AI capable of controlling global defence intelligence and financial networks.

Although the expectation was that these two movies would be a “culmination” of the franchise and serve as a “send-off” for Tom Cruise’s character, the actor has recently said that he hopes to take inspiration from Harrison Ford and keep making Mission: Impossible movies until he’s 80. “Harrison Ford is a legend; I hope to be still going; I’ve got 20 years to catch up with him,” Cruise said. “I hope to keep making Mission: Impossible films until I’m his age.” Of course, this all depends on how successful Mission: Impossible 8 is when it hits theaters on May 23, 2025.

The breakout star of Love Lies Bleeding, Katy O’Brian, is also seeing her fair share of franchise roles. Prior to her latest A24 movie, O’Brian has played parts in projects for Disney like The Mandalorian and Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. She will also be seen in the upcoming Twisters, where she says, “We filmed a tornado movie during tornado season in Tornado Alley.” She would reveal that her character is “a little sillier” than she has been used to, but she won’t go as far as to call it a comic relief role. “I don’t want to say comedic role, and then everyone’s like, ‘She wasn’t funny.’ We’ll say it’s silly and fun.”

Now, according to Deadline, O’Brian is joining the cast of Mission: Impossible 8 as filming continues underway for the Tom Cruise action film. Details surrounding the upcoming sequel are as sealed as the missions in the movies themselves, so it is not known at the moment what role she will be playing in the movie. O’Brian, who no doubt sports an impressive physical presence, could likely play a part that is heavily involved in action scenes. Recently, pics have shown up online from the production that features Cruise doing what he does best — running.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One

As last year’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning (which has dropped the “Part One” subtitle since it hit home video) wrapped up, we saw that Tom Cruise’s IMF agent lead character Ethan Hunt would live to run another day – and pictures from the set of Mission: Impossible 8 (which won’t be called Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two after all) show him doing just that! Cruise running is a big part of these movies and his overall career, so it’s nice to see that Mission: Impossible 8 will indeed have him moving across the screen as fast as his legs can carry him. There’s even some video from the set as well, if you want to see this run in action.

Despite the title change(s), Mission: Impossible 8 will indeed be telling the second half of the story that began in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, with Ethan Hunt out to destroy an AI system called The Entity, which is housed in a sunken Russian stealth submarine.

Awards season typically puts more dramatic fare at the forefront, with the occasional comedy or blockbuster sneaking in. But even if the Golden Globes won’t start a revolution with their inaugural Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award, there’s always Rotten Tomatoes to spotlight genre movies. And the Golden Tomato for Best-Reviewed Action & Adventure movie is…Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning – Part One – and yes, Tom Cruise is extremely happy with the win.

Following the win (made possible by its 96%), where it edged out John Wick: Chapter 4 and Godzilla Minus One, Tom Cruise posted a video thanking the critics and fans for the success of Dead Reckoning. “We make these movies for each and every one of you and I speak on behalf of McQ [Christopher McQuarrie], our entire cast and crew, that we are thrilled and truly honored to be not only one of the best-reviewed films of the year but the best-reviewed action movie of 2023. Thank you.”

Dead Reckoning was also ranked as the number two best-reviewed movie overall, with Tom Cruise and company falling to Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Dead Reckoning has proven to be a critical success, and audiences helped it take in $560+ million. It was nominated for the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Golden Globe but lost to Barbie, the year’s highest-grossing movie. Despite such acclaim all around, it’s highly unlikely that Dead Reckoning will be up for any major Oscars. However, it could earn some nominations in the technical categories, breaking the dry run the series has had so far at the Academy Awards.

If you haven’t had a chance to see Dead Reckoning just yet, it arrives on Paramount+ this Thursday, January 25th. But you’ll notice that the Part One has been dropped from the title, pointing to the follow-up – currently slated for May 23rd, 2025 (after a final delay stemming from the SAG-AFTRA strike) – being given a separate subtitle altogether.

Where does the action of Dead Reckoning – and the stunts of Tom Cruise – rank in the franchise? What was the best scene from the movie? Give us your pick below!

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, streaming release

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will make its streaming debut on Paramount+ later this month, but it will officially be dropping “Part One” from its title. Dead Reckoning will be available to stream on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Canada on January 25th, and will debut in additional international markets beginning next month.

The title change shouldn’t come as a big surprise. The next Mission: Impossible movie was originally titled Dead Reckoning Part Two, but after the first movie was perceived to be a box-office disappointment, Paramount rethought its approach. When production on the new movie was forced to shut down due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the studio pushed the release from June 28, 2024 to May 23, 2025 and announced that it would receive a new title.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, streaming poster

I can’t imagine that the title change is going to thrill those with OCD tendencies who already own the movie on physical media.

Although Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning received rave reviews and grossed over $567 million worldwide, it did underperform compared to previous installments of the franchise, especially when its soaring budget was factored in. Paramount is obviously hoping that giving the sequel a new title will help its chances at the box office upon its release next year.

In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.

You can check out a review of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One from our own Chris Bumbray right here, and be sure to let us know what you thought of the film as well. Dead Reckoning was released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD last October.

Tom Cruise can be a divisive figure; we here at JoBlo love the guy but he definitely has his critics, primarily those who hit at his personal life and dealings in Scientology. But if you take a look at any one of his insane stunts – or listen to his tirade against slip-ups during the Covid-19 pandemic that shut down production on Dead Reckoning – you’ll know this guy is the real deal when it comes to making movies. And if you have anything bad to say about the guy’s work ethic, you’ll have to answer to M:I co-star Hannah Waddingham.

Hannah Waddingham, who co-stars in 2025’s sequel to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One – which has yet to be officially named, but we feel like the fates might align on this one… – suggested that her views on Tom Cruise changed while working with him on the eighth installment of the M:I franchise. Appearing on the series James Martin’s Saturday Morning over the holiday break, she said, “I have to say, I have a real problem with anybody that goes at him now.” Waddinham spent five days filming with the star aboard the George W.H. Bush fighter carrier. She added, “He is without doubt one of the loveliest and encouraging, positive and inspiring human beings I have ever met. Isn’t he gorgeous? I have no time for anyone saying anything about him.”

The upcoming Mission: Impossible will not only of course bring back Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt – who he first played back in 1996 – but a number of other franchise favorites, like Ving Rhames as Luther and Simon Pegg as Benji. Also returning will be Hayley Atwell, Henry Czerny, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, and Esai Morales, some of whom only first appeared in the most recent installment. Joining Hannah Waddingham as newcomers will be Janet McTeer and Lucy Tulugarjuk, all in undisclosed roles.

While we don’t know for sure if Ted Lasso will return for a fourth season, Hannah Waddingham is riding a much-deserved wave, with two major productions – action-comedy The Fall Guy and yet another Garfield movie – slated for 2024.

Does Tom Cruise’s personal life interfere with you enjoying his movies? Should it have an impact at all? Let us know your thoughts below.

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise has been one of the most dominant and impactful Hollywood draws for over 40 years but if his Mission: Impossible co-star Simon Pegg is to be believed, the 61-year-old actor/stuntman is still in the middle of his career.

Pegg, who has played IMF tech Benji in every M:I movie since the third entry, told The Independent he expects even bigger things from Tom Cruise — you know, other than having $10 billion in box office take to his name. “I love working with Tom…and he’s really good fun to work with but I get the feeling that when Tom goes off and does other things, it’ll be a completely different thing. He has a whole other age to come in his career. He’s a very good actor, a very, very good actor – as we’ve seen in Magnolia and Jerry Maguire… I think when he finally stops jumping off s***, he’ll have a third act.” Pegg added that he would love to be part of whatever that third act brings.

If Tom Cruise sticks to his word, he may not be entering this final phase of his career until he’s in his 80s, saying he’d like to match his days as Ethan Hunt with Harrison Ford’s longevity as Indians Jones. But, really, who wouldn’t want to see Cruise doing death-defying stunts or going to outer space as an octogenarian? And is that all that far removed from the realm of possibility? Cruise has yet to win an Oscar but if they ever introduce Best Stuntwork, maybe he can snag a much-deserved statue.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One — in which Tom Cruise did some of his most insane stunts to date — was one of the top movies of last year, taking in just under $566 million worldwide, while his previous sequel, Top Gun: Maverick, grossed an astounding $1.5 billion. Dead Reckoning’s immediate sequel is currently slated for May 23rd, 2025 — and yes, the superstar will again blow our minds. And how couldn’t he? He’s not even eligible for social security benefits!

How long do you see Tom Cruise doing his trademark stunts? Will he be doing them for decades to come or will he age out sooner than he hopes?

Now that the WGA and the AMPTP have finally found a similar plane of terms to agree on, the picket lines have thinned out with the writers going back to work. The big gains in the deal that the studios have made with the writers similarly apply to what SAG has been fighting for since joining the strike. It is said that the resolved issues with the writers, which include the regulated use of AI for films and TV shows as well as residual pay for streaming projects, can also transfer to the actors’ terms. The actors’ union and the studios are scheduled to resume negotiations on Monday.

The resolution of the writers’ strike could hopefully mean a similar resolution for SAG-AFTRA as well. Once the actors’ union and the studios reach their own agreement, all the projects that have been put on pause will be back on after months of striking. According to Variety, Hollywood is preparing for the logistical nightmare of both resuming and starting the filming of movie and TV projects all at once. Elsa Ramo, an attorney who has represented Imagine Entertainment and Skydance, explained, “The priorities seem to be things that were all but greenlit but stopped because of the strike. They need to figure out how they finish what they started.”

While Tim Burton mentioned that Beetlejuice 2 was only days away from finishing, other big films like Deadpool 3, Gladiator 2, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, Venom 3, Twisters and Mortal Kombat 2 have all paused smack dab in the middle of their productions. Along with TV shows, like Stranger Things, that will also pick right back up, studios are scrambling to secure conflict-free scheduling of talent, soundstage reservations and on-location shooting.

A bevy of projects were also on the cusp of starting before the strikes. A production chief also explained, “As soon as the strikes are over, everybody is going to want to go after the same five directors and four stars. It becomes a supply-and-demand question. And whereas before the strike the shooting schedule was staggered, everybody is going to be putting a ton of movies and shows into production at exactly the same time.”

While Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One didn’t quite break the bank as predicted, Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie won’t let it slow a good partnership down. The two have collaborated on a number of Cruise’s latest outings, including the last three Mission: Impossible sequels, Top Gun: Maverick and Jack Reacher. McQuarrie gained recognition with his script for The Usual Suspects, which he parlayed into his debut outing as both the writer and director of a violent, crime thriller with a side of dark comedy titled The Way of the Gun back in 2000.

McQuarrie is coming back to his harder-edged roots on a secret project with Cruise that he’s describing as a “gnarly” R-rated film. Back in 2020, McQuarrie hinted to Empire about the project and speaking once again with Empire for his in-depth talk about Dead Reckoning Part One, he confirms the project is still on its way as he and writer Erik Jendresen have written the script. McQuarrie explained, “There’s a movie that Cruise and I are talking about doing next or in some probable next, that Erik and I developed together – what has been referred to on the internet as ‘The Gnarly Movie’. It’s that movie that they’re all asking for, and that we want to do.”

In 2020, the Mission: Impossible filmmaker reflected on the first Jack Reacher when he first revealed details about the “gnarly” film as the pair first wanted to take the Jack Reacher franchise to a darker tone, “Tom and I were talking about, had the series continued, to take Reacher to a place where, in the post-Deadpool, post-Joker world, Reacher could have been an R-rated movie and an R-rated franchise and really fed into the brutality of those books. We were fully ready to lean into that.” Then, he goes on to tease this secret project, “It’s a very un-Tom character, and we have plans for an even more un-Tom character that we’ve been talking about, which I’m hopeful about in the future. […] The franchise has moved on, and we haven’t. So we’ve now got stuff in the hopper. The [Jack Reacher] stuff we’re talking about now is tinker toys [compared to it], I’m actually very, very excited.”

Hayley Atwell, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, sequel

Hayley Atwell joined the Mission: Impossible franchise for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. She plays Grace, a professional thief who crosses paths with Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise). Atwell will be returning for Dead Reckoning Part Two and teased her experience shooting in the Arctic while speaking with THR.

Nothing has ever been filmed in the Arctic for a movie of this scale,” Hayley Atwell said of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two. “People thought that it would be impossible, and luckily, Team Mission just came in and totally invalidated that belief system. I can say that the main focus was the safety of the cast and the crew,  but also the respect of the landscape out there. The territory feels unowned in a way because it’s so majestic and raw. At times, in minus 55 with a wind chill, having to get action dialogue in that takes a tremendous amount of organization and focus. So how they put that together and weave that into the story, I don’t know, but it will remain the most extraordinary place I’ve ever been on this planet and will probably ever go.

Hayley Atwell also spoke of her most memorable experience on the set of Dead Reckoning Part One.

It would be drifting in Rome with Tom in the passenger seat, handcuffed to me, with three cameras attached to the windscreen, which impaired my vision. And then it started to rain and the ground was getting wet, which obviously affected the drift. There were stunt cars, and we were beside these very old important monuments. People had come out to watch, and obviously, the crew was watching. I also had to work out whether Tom was speaking to Hayley or Ethan was talking to Grace, when he would say, “Slow down or take a left.” If it was Ethan talking to Grace, she can rebel against exactly what he’s saying and do the opposite. He would also come up with suggestions that he wanted me to try and say, and then we did it. So there’s about 20 minutes of footage of us doing it over and over again, and then stopping to get out and go, “Well, I hope we got some good stuff.”

Atwell continued, “And then Tom led a round of applause from the crew, and McQ said, ‘Tom put his life in your hands just then and he wouldn’t have allowed you to do that had he not believed that you could look after him, too.’ And I thought, ‘Wow, that’s generosity and trust from Tom and how hard he’s seen me work to make sure I can do this for him and for the movie.’ It was a beautiful surprise to me, because I just thought, ‘Well, you told me to train really hard to be able to do it. So I did it.’ It was a validation because they know what it takes technically, physically, mentally, emotionally to have done that and executed it well. So they’re never short on their praise for when actors come in and deliver for them. That’s a moment I’ll never forget.

Production on the Dead Reckoning Part Two was recently halted due to the ongoing WGA and SAG strikes, but is (so far) still on track for release on June 28, 2024. While this may get repetitive since nearly every film production is shutting down per the actors’ strike, there are notable big-budget tentpole films that are finding themselves in the middle of the trouble. It was already reported that Gladiator 2 and Mortal Kombat 2 were halted as soon as the actors’ strike took effect. Then, Deadpool 3 would follow as the next major franchise project to shut down, which is unfortunate timing since Hugh Jackman just teased a set pic featuring him in a full-on Wolverine comic-accurate costume. Inevitably, fans have been spreading the pic and already posting fan art merely hours after the reveal as fanboy excitement has shot up even more for the sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, two more follow-ups to blockbusters have ceased production amid the strike. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, which had been filming back-to-back with this week’s release, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, has shut down. The ambitious two-part project had already experienced delays due to COVID. However, despite being filmed in conjunction with Part One, the production is as grand as ever as it films in multiple locations and even features scenes on an aircraft carrier. Furthermore, the film’s star, Tom Cruise, insists on practical filming, so the complicated process likely doesn’t allow for a swift filming schedule.

Some of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two‘s filming locations included more Italian cities after Part One took place in both Rome and Venice. Part Two recently had Cruise flying to Bari, which is the capital city of the Apulia region. Cruise and company were filming at the exotic location for a coastal shoot. Another blockbuster follow-up, Venom 3, just started filming in the Cartagena neighborhood of Los Mateos in Spain. The commencement was marked by Tom Hardy, who returns as the film’s star, when he posted a photo on his Instagram from location. The timing for this is comparable to Deadpool 3 as the movie just started filming a couple weeks ago.

Marvel has a ton of projects on its slate, even though it’s now planned that Bob Iger will be scaling back on the quantity. With the shutdowns, Marvel heads, Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito shared an email with the staff that stated, “We recognize how much you’ve all done on your specific projects and it’s disappointing when carefully laid plans have to shift, but constant change is the nature of the production business, and our teams are no stranger to unexpected challenges and rising to meet them. We deeply appreciate all your efforts to make the best of the situation, and we can all hope that a new agreement will be finalized soon so we can resume the great work we have in process.”

Tom Cruise is back on the decks of an aircraft carrier, but it’s not for a new Top Gun. The Maverick star was seen choppering to what may be the USS George H.W. Bush after arriving in Bari, an Italian port city. Cruise has been filming scenes for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One around Italy, including Venice and Rome. As the two parts film back-to-back, it would seem the country will be playing a big part across both films.

Variety reports that Antonio Parente, the head of the Apulia Film Commission, that Cruise had flown into Bari, which is the Apulia region’s capital city, on Saturday. After spending the night in Bari’s 5-star Hotel Delle Nazioni, Cruise hopped on a private helicopter from the Bari airport on Sunday to go shoot scenes for the eighth Mission: Impossible entry on a U.S. aircraft carrier “which is probably the U.S.S. George H.W. Bush, but we are not sure,” Parente said.

He added, “The U.S. naval vessel was near the Italian coast when Cruise boarded it, but it is now somewhere between Italy and Croatia.” Parente was quick to show his enthusiasm for the city being chosen to host the scenes that will be featured in the epic blockbuster. “We are proud that [the] Apulia [region] has been chosen as the operational base for this rather complex shoot,” he says. According to Parente, the Apulia Film Commission had liaised with Paramount Italia but only provided help with airport logistics for the Mission: Impossible shoot.

Cruise had also shared a behind-the-scenes video for Dead Reckoning Part One that documents the training and preparation for a massive motorcycle jump stunt that took place on a cliff in Hellesylt, Norway. The location of the jump was isolated, so rigs for the stunt that would be built for the ramp were flown in piece-by-piece by helicopter. The production for Dead Reckoning Part Two on the arctic island of Svalbard, which is off the coast of Norway.

The locations for these entries are seemingly getting increasingly exotic, and that’s what is to be expected for a Tom Cruise production that are to be the final installments in his banner franchise.

Tom Cruise, Les Grossman

Tom Cruise rarely gets the chance to disappear into a supporting role, but when he does, he seems to have a ball with it. Nearly fifteen years ago, Tom Cruise played the profane, ill-tempered studio executive Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder. The role was a big success for the actor, even landing him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor, and rumours of a Les Grossman spinoff movie quickly emerged.

It turns out that Tom Cruise still has Les Grossman on his mind and is planning on bringing the character back with his Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie. Deadline has reported that Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie are cooking up several projects to follow Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part II, one of which would involve Les Grossman. Deadline isn’t sure whether Cruise and McQuarrie have a full Les Grossman movie in mind or if they want to include the character in another project.

Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie are also developing an “original song and dance-style musical” as well as another “original action film with franchise potential.” Cruise has always been interested in doing a musical, particularly after playing a rock star in Rock of Ages. Each project will be penned by Christopher McQuarrie in collaboration with Tom Cruise. Cruise will next be seen reprising the role of Ethan Hunt for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part I. The first part of what’s intended to be a sendoff for Cruise’s character will hit theaters on July 14, 2023. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part II is currently in the midst of production and will be released on June 28, 2024.

Would you be down to see Tom Cruise reprise the role of Les Grossman once again?

Chris McQuarrie is making moves this Monday by sharing new character images for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two. McQuarrie debuted two black and white photos on social media, each focusing on a new character in the Mission: Impossible franchise. In the first picture, Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) looks stately and solemn in military gear. A nametag on his chest reveals part of his name as Sydney. In the second image, Janet McTeer (Ozark) stares daggers while contemplating her next move. She’s dressed in a smart-looking suit with an American flag pinned to her lapel. If you look closely, you can also see Henry Czerny’s Kittridge, Holt McCallany as Secretary of Defense Bernstein, and Mark Gatiss in the photos.

You can check out Christopher McQuarrie’s Twitter post displaying the new images below:

Paramount debuted an action-packed trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One in May. The footage includes all the bells and whistles of a top-tier action extravaganza endorsed and executed by Tom Cruise. Visually compelling, packed to the rafters with Hollywood’s hottest stars, and more significant than any previous entry in the franchise, Dead Reckoning is a two-part theatrical event.

Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, IMF agent and operative leader. The franchise kicked off in 1996 and has only grown in popularity, thanks mainly to the last three installments. Director Christopher McQuarrie returns to helm all the action, and it looks like he’s trying to best every stunt they’ve already accomplished with this latest endeavor. In addition to Cruise, the film also stars Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Esai Morales, Rob Delaney, Charles Parnell, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, Cary Elwes, and Henry Czerny. He is returning as Eugene Kittridge after last appearing in the first film.

Are you excited about Ron Swanson, I mean Nick Offerman joining the Mission: Impossible universe? How about Janet McTeer? Both actors look as if they were born to play these roles, and I can’t imagine how much money these movies are going to make when they hit theaters. Speaking of which, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One premiers in theaters on July 14, 2023, with Part Two set for a June 28, 2024 premiere in cinemas.
